The best of the blends
Thank you to all the wine clubs who supported the 29th annual Blaauwklippen Blending Competition. It was a fierce battle of the blends, but ultimately The WWIWWEW Wine Club from Gauteng walked away with glory when they were announced the winners, beating 76 other blends!
Ironically the acronym of their club name stands for: We wonder if we will ever win, well they settled that question once and for all! The triumphant wine was a sophisticated blend of 32% Shiraz, 30% Zinfandel, 20% Cabernet Franc and 18% Petit Verdot. The label for the winning blend is based on a specially designed artwork by well-known Stellenbosch artist, Frans Groenewald.
The wine is sold in Magnum bottles from selected retail outlets, and from the tasting centre on the farm at R134 per bottle.
New releases & Tapas too
We have just released our Reserve Merlot 2010 that sells for R289 per bottle from the cellar door. The Reserve Collection is produced only when the quality of our fruit is of the highest quality, therefore availability will be vintage dependent.
The much anticipated 2012 Noble Late Harvest Viognier is also now for sale at R189 per bottle, a decadent sweet treat that usually sells out in record time, so do not miss out.
Another new addition to the Blaauwklippen portfolio is our Tapas bar and menu.
From Wednesday 3rd October we invite you to unwind in our tranquil surroundings, the Tapas Bar will be open from Wednesday to Friday 16:00 till 19:00 and some of the snacks to look forward to include:
Fried jalapeno poppers, panco fried mozzarella balls with coriander aioli, five spice seared tuna with Wasabi mayo, Fresh chucked oysters with marinated celery spaghetti and bloody marry granite, cheese straws wrapped with Parma ham with wild garlic aioli, focaccia bread with duck liver parfait, humus and pepper dew cream cheese, a selection of cold cut meats – salami, pastrami, black forest ham and our own weinwurst as well as cheeses.
