Spring fever…

From the 3rd of September we will be welcoming you for lunch 7 days a week, a sure sign that spring has sprung!  Not only are we welcoming a new season, we are also introducing our new chef’s cutting edge menu.

Chris’s menu offers something for everyone.  Try the roast butternut salad with herb baby lettuce, toasted pine kernels, garlic croutons, confit cocktail tomatoes and a wild rosemary dressing or one of my favourites the oxtail stuffed Patagonian baby squid with truffle tomato concasse fresh coriander and arugula and mouth watering desserts like  the golden fried brown bread ice cream with slow roasted plums and melba sauce.

Come and treat your taste buds!

Run for fun (and wine)

C2C-513 On route

Spring is also the time to become more active and the third Cellar2Cellar Trail Run & Wine Experience is just the event to get your blood pumping again after the long winter.

It takes place on Saturday, 8 September and the race will start and finish at Blaauwklippen.

The 12km Wine Experience winds its way through the vineyards of our neigbours, Vriesenhof, Dornier, Kleinood, Waterford and Stellenzicht.  Entry fees start at R160, please visit for more information.

While you are cheering on the runners, taste our new release Blaauwklippen Cultivar Selection Shiraz. It sells for R62 per bottle and if you mention that you read about the release in this letter, you will be eligible for a free taste of this wine.

Tea for two and coffee too!

We have an exciting new addition to the Blaauwklippen experience from the 17th of September our take on the traditional High Tea.

A month of 5 markets

September is a month with 5 Sundays, which means an extra market day. Celebrate the arrival of Spring on the 2nd of September with a “Spring Flower Power Day” and watch local florists compete for the title of the Blaauwklippen Family Market Master Florist.

We received sad news in July when our biltong trader passed away, therefore we will have a Biltong Day on the 9th of September in his memory.  All the food traders will have at least one item of food with biltong as an ingredient on their menu.  The 16th of September is the 3rd Sunday of the month, and Vineyard Doggy Walk time which starts at 10h00.  Join us for a day full of culture on the 23rd of September as we will be celebrating Heritage Day.  All of the traders will dress up in traditional attire; one could say that you will be able to go around the world in 5 hours.

The Cape Spring Plant Fair will take place from the 29 – 30 September, as well as our regular Antique Fair on the 30th.  We hope to see you there.

Until next time,

Rolf Zeitvogel and Team.
