Registration now open for the 32nd annual Blaauwklippen Blending Competition
Calling on all members of wine clubs and societies to enter this unique competition, because this year you could be the winner of the 32nd annual Blaauwklippen Blending Competition with the honour of your winning creation being bottled and sold under the Blaauwklippen Barouche label in a Magnum (1.5l) bottle.
All the blends of the individual clubs/wine societies will compete against each other and the top 4 scores of all entries will determine who the semi-finalists are. The 4 semi-finalists will be invited to Blaauwklippen where the winner will be announced at an award ceremony attended by selected guests and media on Friday 4 September 2015.

In the spirit of Blaauwklippen’s 333rd birthday this year, we are challenging you to produce a serious and complex Bordeaux Blend that will stand the test of time, consisting of the following five wines: Cabernet Franc 2014, Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Malbec 2013, Merlot 2014 and Petit Verdot 2014.
All the wines are marked for use in the Blaauwklippen Vineyard Selection range and received a variation of oak regimes. All five of these classic Bordeaux cultivars must be used in the final blend. The Cabernet Franc and Malbec will be limited to 15% of the total blend.
Each participating club will receive a 750ml bottle of each of these 5 wines, along with a plastic measuring cylinder, the recipe rules and the recipe entry form.
The recipes need to be submitted online (www.blaauwklippen.com.) by latest Friday 19, June 2014.
Cost: R200 for hamper (wines & cylinder) excluding transport.
